First of all it's a new year. Welcome to 2010 everyone -- I for one am looking forward to what the year will bring.

The Holidays has given me some time to get several items completed  that I have been working on for some time.  They are -- in no particular order:

SGSV Version 5.7 - This version has been in the works for some time -- in fact version 5.6 never made it to public release. SGSV Version 5.7 re-introduces the "Wait on Previous Filter" feature that I once had.  Also, a rather large amount of work has been done under the covers to reduce the "vectors for attack".  One of my sites underwent several security scans and it surfaced several issues with SGSV that could not be considered a "false positive". (DNN passed with flying colors!!!) The end result is a better module, but several minor changes have been implemented.

XMLdb Version 5.5 and 3.5 - The release of XMLdb has been on the back burner for some time.  With recent updates to the Core Reports module most of the same functionality is possible with the core module.  However, several long time users of XMLdb have asked for a DNN V5 compliant version.  So, I have revised XMLdb and the original Paging Example I did with XMLdb (see previous blog entry).  Version 5.5 is available for DNN V5.1.4+ and Version 3.5 is available for DNN V4.8+.

SimpleQuery V1.0 -  This module is new to Tressleworks and is used for the time when SGSV is overkill and/or is already on the page.  This module displays the results of a SQL Select against a user defined template.  If the template is not defined, SimpleQuery will create a default template and allow the user to update the template as desired.  The module supports inter-module communciation (IMC) from SGSV so you can use SimpleQuery to display additional detail on a page using SGSV substitution parameter values.

Still to come is Therochart.  The module is ready, the documentation is not.  I hope to get this module out soon - in the mean time you can see examples at here

On another front, I will continue to evangelize DotNetNuke to anyone that will listen. So, I will be speaking at the following two events in the near future.

Tuesday January 26th - Whitby Ontario - speaking at the East of Toronto .Net User Group about "What's New with DotNetNuke".  I will be giving away a copy of "DotNetNuke 5 User's Guide" by Chris Hammond and Patrick Renner.

Tuesday March 9th - Orlando, Florida - speaking to the Orlando DotNetNuke Users Group (ODUG) about "DotNetNuke SQL Tips and Tricks". See here for details

If have a chance to attend either event - please do so.

Looking ahead, I am expecting a great year in the DotNetNuke Community.  I believe much of the ground work implemented by the DotNetNuke Corporation will bear fruit this year and it will be exciting to be part of the growth.

Paul.
